ML5 Seafarer Medicals
Fast, official, and comprehensive fitness-to-work medical assessments for domestic seafarers, small commercial vessel crews, and commercial fishermen.
An ML5 Medical Certificate is an official UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) health assessment required for individuals working on commercial vessels, crew transfer boats, or fishing vessels operating in domestic UK waters.
At MediTree Healthcare, our experienced occupational health clinicians conduct fast, thorough ML5 medical assessments to ensure you meet all statutory physical and health standards required to work safely at sea.
Who Needs an ML5 Medical Certificate?
An ML5 certificate is required for seafarers working on:
- Commercial Fishing Vessels (under 24m or operating in UK waters)
- Small Commercial Vessels & Workboats (Area Category 2 to 6 — operating up to 60 miles from a safe haven)
- Harbour and Inshore Craft (tugs, ferries, and passenger boats operating on UK rivers/canals)
- Master or Crew on Pleasure Vessels operating commercially
Note: If you work on larger international vessels or require an ENG1 medical, our clinical team can guide you on the appropriate requirements.
