Mast and Towers Safety Medicals (MATS)
The primary goal of this medical assessment is to minimize the risk of sudden incapacity and the need for rescue while working at height. It also encourages employees to seek early treatment for new or underlying health problems, ensuring chronic conditions are well controlled.
This assessment is conducted by a registered medical practitioner familiar with the physical demands of climbing masts and towers, ensuring consistency across the industry. A fitness certificate, detailing any necessary adjustments or review dates, is issued upon completion.
The Medical Assessment Includes:
Initial Review: Completion and review of a health questionnaire.
Vitals: Weight, height, BMI, blood pressure, and pulse.
Sensory Checks: Vision test (near, far, peripheral, and colour) and Hearing assessment (Audiogram/whisper test).
Physical Exam: Urinalysis, Musculoskeletal assessment, and a physical exam covering cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and mental state.
Fitness: Physical fitness to climb or cardio-respiratory fitness tests.
